We will meet at the Grossmont park n ride and carpool 1.5 hours to the restaurant east of Ocotillo. We will proceed to the Dos Cabezas area where we will set up camp. High-clearance vehicles are needed for the dirt-road portion of the trip to Dos Cabezas. On Saturday, we will take an easy 3 mile hike and learn about the flora and fauna in this area. At night, we will have a contained fire and discuss celestial navigation and astronomy. On Sunday after breakfast, following a tent tour and a backpack demonstration, we will break camp and hike to a palm oasis. On this 2-hour hike, we will see rock art petroglyph sites created by Native Americans who lived in this area centuries ago.

Special Outing Requirements: Day Pack, 1 breakfast, 2 lunches, 1 dinner.
